In collaboration with sci-artist Nellie Pease, we created Chronovarium – choose-your-own-adventure artwork that takes you on a journey through deep time. Each choice you make in this spherical vivarium affects the ecosystem you see and the species that live within it, leaving behind fossils and sedimentary layers that record the story of this place. This collaborative artwork explores ideas in ecology, human agency, and how the land and seascapes around us are continuously reformed through short- and long-term changes. Chronovarium is an introduction to palaeoecology (the study of past ecosystems) and is available as a free online outreach and education resource.
